What's In It for You?

Life's complicated enough, but with loads of options and pressure to succeed—compounded by the crazy financial times—it's no mystery that so many twentysomethings are struggling to figure it all out.

Here's help. Choose on Purpose gives you step-by-step guidance to answer three key questions:

  • What do you want to be?
  • Where do you want to be?
  • Who do you want to be with?

This site isn't about making giant leaps or perfect choices. Choosing on purpose is about making choices that are right for you right now—for growing into your future. Whether you're just starting out, or in a life-work transition period, Choose on Purpose for Twentysomethings helps you do (and keep doing) the things that make your life HAPPEN!

Why This? Why Now?

The road map from youth to adulthood used to be a simple line from A to B: go to school, pick a job—often based on what you were "supposed to do" or what your family thought best.

Today, you practically need a high-tech GPS system to find your way. Which jobs are hot? What are my talents? How do I match myself to what's out there? Where are the jobs? Is there traffic in that sector to get to the top? How many advanced degrees do I need? Do I work for "The Man" or carve out my own thing?

Choose on Purpose combines the practical knowledge of more than twenty years in corporate America with the experience of living and working with twentysomethings as they struggle to make major life choices. There's a lot of career and life guidance out there—but it's too complicated, old school, boring, and unfocused. We aim to bring a fresh perspective on making choices—through a lively mix of choice-making skills, coping strategies, and a good reality check.

She is Managing Partner and Founder of the Choose on Purpose Institute, a results-based consulting firm that brings clarity and confidence to people experiencing change and confusion, from corporate CEO's to college grads.

Here's what else Susan brings:

But besides Susan, there's the GPS. Choose on Purpose for Twentysomethings has flourished under the guidance of its advisory network—the GPS. Our remarkable team, with its unique GPS approach—known as the Group for Purposeful Solutions—has supported the development of Choose on Purpose in every way imaginable.

This dedicated crew helped cultivate the idea and provided much feedback along the way. They road tested it as readers, critics, and "coachees". The team includes all kinds of people—from twentysomethings to fiftysomethings, career searchers to career builders, millennials to boomers, kids and parents, the shy and the assertive, the artistic and the analytical.

This GPS is what makes Choose on Purpose tick—because it's grounded by the experience of mentors and the reality of what twentysomethings need right now.
